The Woodstock Music and Art Fair, commonly known as Woodstock, was a legendary music festival that took place from August 15 to August 18, 1969, in Bethel, New York.

It was one of the greatest events in music history that served as a defining moment in the counterculture movement of the 1960s. The event presented an opportunity for attendees to fully engaged in music and spread a message of unity and peace.

The three-day event presented a diverse lineup of thirty-two artists from different genres and attracted more than 400,000 attendees.

The festival was organized by four young entrepreneurs, Joel Rosenman, John Roberts, Artie Kornfeld, and Mike Lang, that brought together music and art.

The organizers had to encounter many challenges including securing a perfect venue, obtaining permits, and dealing with an unexpectedly large turnout.

This legendary event was listed as number nineteen on the list of the "50 Moments That Changed the History of Rock and Roll" by Rolling Stone magazine and also the site was registered on the list of National Register of Historic Places.

Bert Sommer, a folk singer and former member of "The Left Banke", performed around 7:15 pm, after the Sweetwater at Woodstock event.

Sommer performed ten songs at the three-day festival, including "Jennifer", "Jeanette" and others.

Shankar played over 40 minutes in the rain on Friday evening at 10 pm. He was well-known for teaching "sitar" to George Harrison and his work with him made him more famous.
