Marine Bio 101 Snorkel in San Diego's Mission Bay

Explore San Diego's hidden gem of snorkeling! Everyone who visits San Diego knows about La Jolla, but did you know there's an even better snorkeling spot? Avoid the big waves and crowds with this more relaxed snorkel experience geared for all skill levels. I have over ten years of teaching youth and adults in outdoor education settings including over eight years of working in marine biology-related fields. That, plus my background in conservation biology, provides guests with in-depth knowledge of marine life during the snorkel. I keep the groups small (maximum of 5 participants) which makes a more intimate and personal experience. For more information, or any questions, feel free to reach out @SnorkelMatt on social media or SnorkelMatt.com

Itinerary

  • Estimated Time : 90 minutes

Mission Bay is a great spot for snorkelers of all skill levels! We will be snorkeling in a calm, flat body of water that feeds into the Pacific Ocean. Being in the bay, we typically encounter lots of invertebrates, including sea slugs, octopus, urchins, and sea stars, in addition to a variety of fish and interesting algae! After a brief safety and snorkel etiquette talk, we will explore the area for one hour (60 minutes). I will point out and provide detailed information on the flora and fauna we encounter during the experience! *If you are a non-swimmer, please message me prior to booking to see if this is the right experience for you. Sometimes guests can be overwhelmed by the water but this is the perfect place to learn! I have hosted non-swimmers in the past on private tours. Any living animals found will be left on their own; we do not interfere, touch, or handle any living marine life, following Viator's Animal Welfare Policy. If you cannot find a date/time that works for you, please contact me. I will do my best to accommodate you! Rain or bad weather may result in reschedule/cancellation. After booking I will send you more details incl wetsuit rental, meeting location
