I'll teach you about the sapphire gravel, where it comes from and the history of sapphire mining in Montana
I'll teach you how to clean the gravel and what we are looking for. All sapphire gravel is 100% straight from the mine, and has not been pre-sifted or sorted.
Each cup of gravel benefits the GSBA scholarship foundation, and you can purchase as many cups as you like!
If you find a sapphire over 1/2 carat it can be cut into an amazing sparkly gem that you mined!

  • Our building is not wheelchair accessible as there are 3 steps to enter. Once inside, the rest of the activity can be enjoyed with a wheelchair or walker if needed. Assistance is available for the washing portion of the activity if needed.

Itinerary

  • Estimated Time : 120 minutes

    I'll greet everyone, give a short demonstration and history of sapphire mining and explain how the process works. From there we will wash the sapphire gravel, and I'll show you how to search the cleaned gravel for sapphire crystals. Your first cup is included with the ticket, additional cups can be purchased on site and 100% of the proceeds goes to the GSBA scholarship fund.
