Niagara Falls is downstream from Buckhorn Island State Park! Navigate the waters of the Niagara River streams as you kayak and hike upstream from the mighty Niagara Falls. Discover a nature preserve and bird sanctuary filled with the summer smells of orchids, asters and wildflowers of the marsh and meadows. Visit a natural bird sanctuary where turtles and wildlife thrive in the canopy and meadows of Buckhorn Island State Park in beautiful Grand Island, NY. Your guides are natives of Niagara Falls and Grand Island, and will hike with you through the trails while you learn the Niagara Falls history of exploration and the legend of The Maid of the Mist. Grand Island is home to the only heron rookery on the Niagara River, and on your hiking trail Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Black Crowing Night Herons and little green herons are in your sight. You will be treated to a local favorite for lunch, Buffalo wings and New York Pizza.

    Your local guide will start with a 1 hour leisurely kayak ride along a natural creek located in Buckhorn Island State Park, filled with natural smells and sounds of native bird, tree, dragonfly, flower and turtle species, which you will navigate and photograph. After kayaking, you will hike through the canopy of the park and golden meadow for approximately 1 hour along the mighty Niagara River. You'll see where the rapids begin to pick up right before you stop for lunch at the river's edge. Your guide will tell the tale of The Maid of the Mist of Niagara Falls, a bit of Grand Island and Niagara Falls history, and offer time on your own to explore and photograph the nature preserve and mist of the mighty Niagara Falls. Chicken wing or alternatively, subs or Indian lunch will be provided based on dietary needs.
