Motley Crue Band Members Names And Ages Then And Now

The Original Motley Crue members include Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, Greg Leon, Mick Mars, and Vince Neil. Mick Mars recently retired from the band in 2022.

Nikki was originally a member of another metal band from Los Angeles called London. He left the band and formed Motley Crue on January 17, 1981, along with Tommy Lee and Greg Leon.

Leon decided to not continue soon after their formation and left the group. As for the rest, Mick joined via an audition where he performed for Sixx and Lee among others.

Tommy suggested his high school friend Vince for the vocalist position. The band asked him to join them but he initially declined, but changed his mind and officially joined on April 1st of that year.

Within two weeks, they had their first-ever performance as a band at the Starwood nightclub on April 24th.

Motley Crue Made Several Replacements in the 90s

Motley Crue hired John Corabi and Randy Castillo during the 90s to replace Neil and Lee. They arrived during the band's most tumultuous years.

Corabi became the lead vocalist, and played rhythm as well as the bass guitar, for the group in 1992 when Vince Neil was fired. Corabi stayed with the Crue until Neil ultimately returned in 1997.

Similarly, Castillo was brought into the band in 1999 to overtake the drumming activities when Lee left the band. Unfortunately, Randy was diagnosed with a terminal disease and couldn't continue with the band.

He passed away in 2002. Lee returned back to his position in 2004.

When they started, Motley Crue members' ages ranged from 18 years old to 29 years old. It has been 42 years since the band first began.

Of the four members the Crue had when they made their debut at the Starwood nightclub, three were in their 20s while one of them was still in their teens.

How Old Are The Members Of Motley Crue?

At present day, all of the Motley Crue members are already past their fifties. At 64 years, Nikki Sixx is the oldest member of the group.

Next is Vince Neil who celebrated his 62nd birthday on February 8th earlier this year.

Tommy Lee is the youngest of them all at 61.

How Old Was Motley Crue When They Started?

When The Crue first started out, Tommy Lee at 18 years was the youngest member. Mick Mars was the oldest member of the band at 29.

The two other remaining members Nikki Sixx, and Vince Neil were 20 and 22 years old respectively.

Nikki Sixx

Nikki Sixx, the primary founder of the group, is also the one responsible for playing bass guitar for the band.

He also plays keyboards wonderfully and provides backing vocals when needed.

Vince Neil

Vince Neil is the lead vocalist of the great band. Neil also plays the rhythm guitar at times.

Not only an integral piece of Motley Crue, Vince has also been a solo artist. He has released three solo albums.

Tommy Lee

Tommy Lee was the man who suggested Vince to The Crue. He plays the drums for the legendary band, and is considered one of the most famous drummers ever.

Lee is also very proficient in playing the piano and does backing vocals when needed. Most recently, a Hulu series about his relationship with ex-partner Pamela Anderson, called Pam & Tommy, has been causing a lot of buzz.

Other Members Of The Band

Apart from the core three members of the band, Motley Crue also has four touring members who help the band.

Touring members are those who are paid on a contractual basis to play a specific instrument or have a certain role when the band is on the tour.

The four current touring members of Motley Crue are:

• John 5 (Now an official member)
• Laura D'Anzieri
• Bailey Swift
• Hannah Sutton.

John 5, who is 53, plays the lead and rhythm guitars and provides backing vocals to Vince Neil. John is currently on tour with the band in place of Mick Mars who recently retired.

Likewise, Laura, Bailey, and Hannah are all with the band to provide backup vocals when needed and as dancers. All four members have been with the band since 2022.

Mick Mars Recently Retired

Mick Mars was the primary lead and rhythm guitar player of Crue He left the band and retired in October 2022.

Although not with the band anymore, he was a core member of their successful run. Many remember him as a member of the group's iconic foursome.
