Many great bands came into the scene and gave the best music. But one common thing in every ensemble ever formed is the personnel changes.

U2 has been listed as the Longest running rock band on the planet by Rolling Stone. U2 is an Irish band established in 1976.

The original lineup featured in the first EP of the group named Three are listed below:

During the initial phase, Dik Evans performed as the guitarist. By the time their first EP was recorded, he was out of the picture.

The band has been active since 1985. Their music can be characterized as art rock, experimental rock, electronica, and alternative rock.

King's X is one of the best 70s bands running with three original members. King's X joined forces in 1979 as a hard rock band.

Moreover, their sound is characterized by progressive metal and alternative metal. One can trace the elements of gospel and blues in the vocals.

Among the three members, Doug Pinnick serves as the vocalist and bassist. Similarly, Jerry Gaskill is in the drum and Ty Tabor plays guitar.

In their 44-year-long career, King's X has dropped 13 studio albums. People thought they were a Christian group from their initial releases but that is not the case.

4. De La Soul

Established in 1988, De La Soul is considered one of the top 20 rap groups of all time. For the past 35 years, the band has been making hip-hop music.

Led by Rubén Albarrán, Cafe Tacva joined musical forces in the late 80s. The band name was inspired by a real restaurant Cafe Tacuba.

Sloan comprising 4 artists is one of the 90s bands that are still together. Formed in 1991, Sloan is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

These are the 4 pieces of the quartet and with their respective ages:

  • Chris Murphy - 54 years old
  • Patrick Pentland - 53 years old
  • Jay Ferguson - 54 years old
  • Andrew Scott - 55 years old

Murphy serves as the bassist, and Ferguson is the rhythm guitarist. Similarly, Pentland and Andrew play guitar and drum respectively.

The Roots are the 80s bands still touring in the U.S. The next date of their concert is on December 31, 2023, at Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA per Songkick.

They are also one of the performers at LL Cool J's The F.O.R.C.E tour. It is scheduled to kick off on August 11 in Baltimore Maryland.

In 1987, The Roots establishment took place, thanks to Tariq Trotter and Ahmir Thompson. They go by stage names Black Thought and Questlove respectively.

Over the years, the band saw personnel changes. These two founders were the only mainstay.

Daryl serves as the lead vocalist while John is adept in electric guitar. The latter also works as a backing vocalist when needed.

They gained prominence as a musical duo from the 70s to the late 80s. Hall & Oates was loved for its blend of soul music, soft rock, and adult contemporary style.

In the year 1985, Andy Bell and Vince Clarke from London formed Erasure. Since then, the two have been making a name in the music industry.

Andy and Vince both work as songwriters besides singing and playing instruments. Primarily, Bell is the lead vocalist.

The role of Clarke is to play the keyboard and produce the group's music. In August, Erasure is releasing Always (The Very Best Of Erasure) double-vinyl edition.

Pet Shop Boys are still actively making music in 2023. On June 16, 2023, the musical ensemble dropped a compilation album The Singles 1985–2020.

The tracklist of this latest record contains 55 songs. Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe are the members of the English band.

Neil is the singer and Chris plays the keyboard. The duo were at the top of their game in the 90s.

Songs like West End Girls, It's a Sin, Go West, and Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money) catapulted them to success.

Tears For Fears is a new wave, pop rock, synth-pop band that originated in Bath, England. The band was formed by members Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith in 1981.

Roland works as the guitarist and songwriter for the band. Curt is skilled in playing bass. Speaking of vocals, both members have equal contributions as co-lead vocalists.

Their No.1 debut album The Hurting foreshadowed their successful musical chapter. They are widely appreciated for hits like Mad World, and Songs from the Big Chair among others.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Sparks is one of the popular bands from the 60s. The ensemble was established in 1966.

The sound of the band Sparks is a blend of art pop, glam rock, electronic, and new wave.

Two Mael brothers, Ron and Russel came together to form the ensemble. They are 77 and 74 years old respectively.

The group hit the Billboard Chart with their single I Predict. The North American leg of their Sparks Tour 2023 ended recently on July 16.

Hue And Cry is a band hailing from Coatbridge, Scotland. The band formed in 1983 is driven by Pat Kane and Greg Kane.

Their sound consists of elements of, blue-eyed soul and sophisti-pop. Labour of Love dropped in 1987 is their breakthrough single.

Both members, Pat and Greg are gearing up for the 80s Orchestral event going to be held on April 26 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.

Matt Black and Jonathan More are the two halves of Coldcut. The band is the pioneer of Electronic Music and Art.

Similarly, the ensemble founded an independent record label named Ninja Tune in 1990. Another original label set up by Coldcut is Ahead Of Our Time.

Coldcut came into existence in 1986 after a computer programmer and a Dj decided to collaborate. The English band is popular for songs like:
