Unfortunately, the Rhythm guitarist of the CCR band Tom Fogerty passed away at only 48 years old in September 1990. He was the older brother of John, both of them were raised in El Cerrito, California.
According to Rolling Stone, the band is ranked 82nd in the list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. Similarly, the band members stated that they were inspired by the best-selling solo artist Elvis Presley.

Stu Cook
Stu Cook is the former bassist of CCR. He met the Fogerty brothers when all four former members of the band attended El Cerrito High School.
Cook alongside the members of the band was inducted in RRHOF. Also, in 1993, he auditioned for the position of bassist in The Rolling Stones since the former bass player, Bill Wyman left the band.
Stu and Clifford reunited and formed Creedence Clearwater Revisited in 1995 and started to perform the band's original songs in their live sessions.
Doug Clifford
Doug Clifford was the drummer and founding member of CCR. Clifford's earliest inspiration was The Beatles.
His inspiration led him to successfully create a band that became one of the most successful rock groups in America.
Moreover, after the disbandment of CCR. Clifford and Stu performed in Don Harrison Band and released two albums. They also later reunited and performed together as Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
How Did Tom Fogerty Die?
Tom Fogerty died in September 1990 due to an unscreened blood transfusion which led to the transmission of HIV-AIDS. He also had complications of tuberculosis.
The band's late rhythm guitarist is survived by his second wife Tricia Clapper, and her six children.
Fogerty was one of the best rhythm guitarists and can be counted among the likes of the greatest rhythm guitarists like Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, and Willie Nelson.
Besides his contribution to CCR, this artist is known for seven solo albums and three albums from his 1976 band "Ruby." Also, his debut album "Tom Fogerty" peaked at #78 on Billboard 200 chart.
Before, the passing of Tom, the band members of CCR reunited in 1980 also three years later, they performed at their school reunion.
Did John and Tom Fogerty Reconcile?
John and Tom Fogerty were able to reconcile despite not being on very good terms for much of their lives. In his eulogy for Tom, John stated:
We wanted to grow up and be musicians. I guess we achieved half of that, becoming rock'n roll stars. We didn't necessarily grow up.
One of the main reasons behind the discord was Tom siding his Saul Zaentz during a fight for creative control with John. According to Tom, he referred to Saul Zaentz as his "best friend."
Later, it was discovered Zaentz swindled the band out of millions of dollars and had attempted to sue John.
When Did CCR Breakup?
CCR broke in 1972 after being together for over 12 years. They were still having chart-topping hits for four years prior to the disbandment of the band.
CCR was at its peak at the time of the band's separation. The band's song "Born on the Bayou" peaked at the #2 position on the Billboard chart. It became one of the most covered songs with more than 100 covers.
According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
"CCR became the standard bearers and foremost celebrants of homegrown American Music."
Why Did CCR Breakup?
CCR broke up due to the domineering influence of John Fogerty. He took all the creative control of the band and composition.
Moreover, the band's record deal with Fantasy Records was one of the worst deals among the major recording artist in the U.S. Also, the deteriorating relationship of CCR members added fuel to the fire.
