Originally three-piece group hired Scott Sundquit as a drummer in 1985, allowing Cornell to focus on vocals. With this core lineup, they traveled around performing at various concerts for about a year.
The band experienced mainstream success with the release of their breakthrough album "Superunknown (1994)", lead by the two hit singles "Spoonman" and "Black Hole Sun". Both singles received Grammy Awards and the album placed at number one in the Billboard 200 chart.
In 1997, the grunge music pioneers went on hiatus due to their internal disputes over creative direction. After more than a decade, the group decided to reunite in 2010, where they released their last album "King Animal (2012)".
Over the years in their career, Soundgarden is complimented for their technical ability in music and growth in their styles.
The award-winning band has sold over 30 million records worldwide and has been enlisted at number 14 in the 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock by VH1.

All the lyrics of the band were penned by Chris whilst other members were also credited with writing the music. Members' songwriting was described as 'more collaborative' and 'satisfying'.
Altogether, The rock band has produced three albums, among them "Out of Exile (2005)", was the only album to chart on the Billboard 200. They were nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards in 2006.
After Cornell announced leaving the unit, they disbanded in 2007.

Chris Cornell In Temple Of The Dog worked as a lead vocalist. The band had launched their only album as a tribute to his friend Andrew Wood.
Formed in 1991, along with Cornell other members of the group consist of Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron. They mostly record grunge and alternative rock genres.
The supergroup's only album "Temple of the Dog (1991)" was a platinum album for the members. It contains a much different melody of aggressive metal.
Lyrically, all the songs were penned by Chris, among them two of the singles "Say Hello 2 Heaven", and "Reach Down", were dedicated to Andrew. Mostly the tracks of the albums are based on certain topics.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album, the band reunited and toured in 2016.
