The best Irish and British musicians of the 80s were brought together to create a positive impact on the underprivileged children of Africa suffering from famine.
Bob Geldof collaborated with Midge Ure of Ultravox musical ensemble for the inception of the supergroup named Band Aid in 1984.
Since all these top artists banded together to provide aid, they were called Band Aid. The main purpose to form this star-studded group was to create and release a song to raise money for charity.
They ended up making the super hit Christmas song Do They Know It's Christmas? It was recorded on November 25, 1984.

Geldof held a meeting with Gary Kemp of the Spandau Ballet to finalize the band's involvement with Band Aid. The rendezvous happened in an antique shop.
It was a successful meetup between Bob and Gary.
17. Martin Kemp
Martin Kemp is another member of the Spandau Ballet to participate in the Band Aid. Like his counterparts, Martin sang the chorus part.
In the musical ensemble, he used to perform the role of bass guitarist.

Steve Norman is a multi-instrumentalist with knowledge of guitar, keyboard, saxophone, and guitar. The 63-year-old sang the chorus portion for Band Aid in 1984.
23. Rick Parfitt
Rick Parfitt was approached by Bob Geldof to give their vocals in the 'Here's To You' part. But things did not go as planned.
Parfitt ended up singing the Feed The World part.
24. Robert "Kool" Bell
Robert Earl Bell a.k.a Kool joined the supergroup for the charity event. The founding member of the Kool & the Gang group sang the chorus.

Keren Woodward gave her voice to the 1984 Band Aid as well as the second version of the Christmas song. Woodward is the singer for the Bananarama girl group.
