The band was founded by Maurice White in 1969. Though he has passed away already, the band still continues with his and other members' legacy still with existing members.

Maurice was the founder and main leader of the crew. He sang and played kalimba, drums, and percussion.

Philip Bailey was also a singer and was very much adept in conga, percussion, and kalimba. While Ralph was mainly called to play drums and percussion for the band, he was also a good singer.

Maurice's younger brother Verdine played bass but could also play percussion and sing.

Larry Dunn was the keyboardist of the band. He also played synthesizers and Minimoog.

Al Mckay played lead and rhythm guitar. Besides that, he sang and played sitar and percussion.

Roland Bautista was also the lead and rhythm guitarist and occasionally sang. Another eminent member is Robert Brookins, the keyboardist.

The drummer, Sunny Emory was also the backup vocalist. Fred Ravel was the keyboardist.

Ronnie Laws was proficient in flute, and soprano or tenor saxophones. Another important member is Sheldon Reynolds who was the lead and rhythm guitarist.

And finally, there is Andrew Woolfolk who played flute, saxophone, and percussion.

Current Earth Wind and Fire members consist of a total of nine people. Aside from Verdine, Philip, and Ralph, six members have been added since 1996.

B. David Whitworth has been present since 1996. He mainly focuses on percussion but also does vocal as per requirement.

Myron McKinley was introduced to the crew in 2001. He is also the keyboardist of the troop and manages musical direction for the group.

John Paris was brought alongside Mckinley and is present to this day. He is the drummer of the band.

Morris O'Connor has been with the band since 2008. His role in the band is to be the lead guitarist.

Philip Doron Bailey is the son of Philip Bailey. He was introduced in 2009 and mostly does vocals and percussion alongside his father.

And the final member of the party is Serg Dimitrijevic who has been present with the group since 2014. His role is to play rhythm guitar and also help with vocals sometimes.
