Bands that broke up in the 2010s include 1. One Direction 2. Fifth Harmony 3. 2NE1, and many more. Bands keep on breaking and reuniting.
With a band, they have selected a choice of music and while going solo they can pursue what genre the artist wants.
The 2010s started from the beginning of 2010 and ended on the last of 2019. During this time many popular bands rose to fame with their music and gained loyal fans.
Some bands that got disbanded have reunited. While some bands are making the decision to not come back. Here is a table of 20 of them:

1. One Direction
One Direction was one of the most famous boy bands of the time. Simon Cowell formed this group on X-Factor by putting five boys in a group.
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan were the band members. After the band was formed they gave numerous hits, gained lots of fans, and won many awards.
One Direction released five studio albums, ten EPs, and seventeen singles. Their last album Made in the A.M. was released with Zayn.
They performed together for five years until Zayn decided to leave the band in 2015. The announcement came as a shock to many fans during the tour.
Then four members continued the journey but by the end of the year, they announced they were going on a break. Fans were informed the band will be back soon.
Now all the artists of the band are enjoying solo careers. However, Directioners are still waiting for the reunion.
2. Fifth Harmony
Fifth Harmony rose to fame with X-Factor. This Girl's band finished in third position in the competition.
The famous Girl band was formed during the competition in 2012. Normani, Dinah Jane, Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, and Lauren Jauregui were put together. They have released 3 albums, 6 EPs, and 11 singles.
Fifth Harmony resigned as the popular pop girl group during the time. They have won five awards during that time.
Camila Cabello left the group in 2016 to pursue a solo career although she had denied leaving the band earlier. There was numerous attempt to keep the band together.
In 2018 it was announced that the members were on indefinite hiatus. The remaining four members also wanted to pursue a solo career.
3. 2NE1
2NE1 was a famous K-pop group. This K-pop girl band was famous all over the world.
2NE1 was active during 2009-2016, with four members -Park Bom, Sandra Park, CL, and Minzy were the four girls in the group. They sold millions of records worldwide topping the chart in the United States, Korea, and Japan.
They have released two albums 2EPs and eleven singles. The band tried various sounds like pop, electronic, R&B, and reggae elements in the music.
Their album appeared in the top ten of the world album chart in Billboard. 2NE1 performed together after 6 years at Coachella 2022.
4. Rilo Kiley
Rilo Kiley were an American Indie Rock band that was formed in 1998. The band consisted of four members.
Jenny Lewis, Black Sennett, Pierre de Reeder, and Dave Rock were the founding members of the group. In 2004 they got more recognition.
Rilo Kiley released 4 studio albums, 5EPs, and 9 music videos. Guitarist Black Sennet informed that the band broke up due to deception, disloyalty, and greed.
They were seen performing together for the last time in 2008. In the year 2014, the band confirmed the official disbanding of Rilo Liley.
5. The Jompson Brothers
The Jompson Brothers are popular for their country songs. The band was formed in 2007.
Chris Stapleton, Greg Mckee, Bard MacNamee, and Jt Curee are the members of the band. The Jompson brothers released the self-titled album in 2010 which was the only album released by them.
They performed at festivals up to 2013, but the band didn't announce the official breakup. The Jompson brothers have announced that the band is on break during Chris Stapleton's solo tour to support him.
6. The Dillinger Escape Plan
The Dillinger Escape Plan formed in 1997 was disbanded in 2017. They originated in New Jersey.
The band has seen multiple changes in the lineup due to injuries. They have released 6 Studio albums and 6EPs.
They have received several awards in their name. Ben the guitarist announced that disbanding was because of new music choices.
The group wanted to stay true to what they had started. He further went on to say that the beginning and ending were the same.
7. Fun
Fun are an American boy band that broke up in 2015. The band announced a hiatus through a Facebook post.
The members, Andrew Dost, Nate Ruess, and Jack Antonoff, said they were following different paths. During that time they released 2 albums, 7EPs, and 11 singles.
Fun won Grammy Awards in 2013 for the Best New Artist. The artists are now pursuing their solo careers in different fields.
8. Black Sabbath
The English rock band, Black Sabbath, are credited for creating heavy metal. The group disbanded in 2017.
Since its establishment in 1968, the band has seen constant lineup change. The final strike was when Ozzy was fired from the band the members were not motivated to work without him.
Ozzy has announced that there is no chance of a band reunion like others. He further said they can't beat what has already been done.
9. The Wanted
The Wanted was one of the biggest pop acts of the early 2010s. They were formed in 2009 and went on hiatus in 2014.
Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker, and Nathan Skyes compromised the group. All of them became a global sensation. The Wanted released three studio albums and 1EP along with 15 singles.
The reunion was announced in 2021 to create the greatest album which did not happen. Tom Parker passed away in 2022 due to a brain tumor.
10. The White Stripes
The White Stripes is a rock duo that had the most mysterious breakup. Formed in the year 1997 they released 6 albums.
In 2011 they announced the breakup of the band because they were not on the same page. Both of the band members, Jack and Meg White, started pursuing solo careers.
While they announced the band breaking up only in 2011 the slow pace had started in 2007. Till now no one knows the actual reason behind the disbanding of the duo.
11. Superjoint
Superjoint was formed in 1980 by Phil Anselmo. The band went their separate ways in 2019.
A Groove Metal band, they first disbanded in 2004. However, they reunited in 2014 to perform for fans at Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin. Superjoint has released 3 albums.
Superjoint guitarist Jimmy Bower told the press that the band is done for good. Still, fans are hopeful, they may return again since their disbanding has not been officially announced.
12. Nevermore
The American Progressive metal band Nevermore has not performed since 2011. The band has been inactive due to personal issues.
Initially formed in 1991, they have released 7 studio albums, 1EP, and 1 single.
During the time the band was active they toured excessively and naturally took to drinking due to the pressire. This led to the band members developing personal issues with each other.
So without announcing anything they went separate ways. They have been quiet since 2011 not wanting to speak about the issues.
13. Prophets of Rage
Prophets of Rage was formed in 2016 as a supergroup. It consisted of members from Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill.
Sadly, they were together for only three years. During that time, the band released one EP and one album.
In 2019 their disbandment was announced since Rage Against Machine had decided upon a reunion. However, the band is set to reunite and release the album in 2023.
14. ReVamp
ReVamp was formed after the disbanding of After Forever in 2009. It became quite popular during its active time.
During 2016 the concerts were cancelled due to Jansen's health issue. The band was inactive owing to health issues. They never announced what happened.
They returned and performed until 2016 when the official disbanding was announced. Their reunion didn't last long this time the reason for the breakup was to pursue new opportunities.
15. Letlive
Letlive, and American band, was formed in 2002 and remained active until 2017. Letlive was popular for its rock songs.
During 15 years of the journey, they released four studio albums, an EP, and four singles. The differences in views was the reason for the group disbanding.
They also announced that they won't be performing together anymore. So fans should give up on the hope of a reunion.
16. R.E.M
R.E.M. was formed when the members were just college students. The group was formed in 1980 performing its first show at a friend's birthday.
Almost 30 years later, R.E.M. decided to split up while preparing for their last album in 2011. The members wanted freedom of their own.
The decision came mutually. All are busy pursuing the solo career now.
17. Cobra Starship
Cobra Starship started there journey in 2006. Gape Saporta formed it initially as a solo project.
The American dance-rock band announced its dissolution in 2015. After releasing 4 albums and spending nearly 10 years together Gabe announced the news of the dissolution.
He further stated that Cobra Starship was started when they were young and carefree.
18. Kingsland Road
Kingsland Road started as a group in X Factor. Joshua Syrus, Joe Brain, Jay Scott, Jon James Thompson, and Matthew Cahill are the group members' names.
Their debut single came in 2014 which reached 85 position on UK charts. Before the album was released, however, Jay decided to quit the band.
The first album was released in spring 2015. Soon after, on June 15, it was announced that the band was splitting.
19. Wild Beasts
Wild Beasts were an English Indie Rock band formed in 2001. They released their first single in 2006.
As soon as the contract ended, in 2018, they decided not to sign the new contract. The decision was mutual with no hate between the members.
With the announcement, they also informed that the band won't be coming back together. The departure should be happy and if waited on for a long time, there may be disagreement.
20. Chairlift
Chairlift American were an American synth-pop band founded in 2005. The debut album was released in 2008.
Chairlift decided to do the final tour in 2017 and stated that after that they would be breaking up. The band broke up on good terms.
It was said that the band members wanted to try something new taste in music. One of the members, Caroline Polachek, is now a successful solo act.
