1 day in New York City tour includes chilling at Central Park and eating some delicious bagels. Make the most out of the day in NYC.

Let's admit it, you can't see everything in New York in a single day. Even New Yorkers who have lived here all their life discover new places every day.

But what you can do is see some popular landmarks, eat some delicious food, and ride the subway.

This itinerary includes Times Square, Central Park, Lower Manhattan, MET, West Village, and Midtown. And yes, it is all possible with a little planning and organizing the day.

Here is a detailed itinerary that includes where to go, what to do, where to eat, and more.

1. Spend The Morning At Central Park

One day in New York City itinerary is incomplete without Central Park. The city's vibrant green heart is a manmade oasis perfect for a little calm in the middle of the concrete jungle.

With over 800 acres of green and lush lawns to ponds, there is so much to explore. However, as time is on a crunch so here are a few things you should see and do here.

  • Head to the Bethesda Terrace
  • See the beautiful cast iron bridge, Bow Bridge
  • Check out the Strawberry Fields
  • Get coffee from one of the amazing restaurants inside Central Park

2. Eat A NYC Bagel For Breakfast

Did you even go to New York if you didn't eat bagels? NYC is known for the delicious bagels; many say it is because of the water there.

It is a perfect way to fuel up for the day. You will find perfectly delicious bagels all over the city, but as time is limited, finding a spot closer to Central Park is the best option.

If you want something other than the plain ones, many eateries offer options such as Rainbow Bagels, Cinnamon Raisin, Cranberry Raisin, Everything Bagels, Bagel sandwiches, and more.

Here are some best-rated bagel places near Central Park.

  • Tal Bagels
  • Ess-a-Bagel
  • H&H Bagels
  • Best Bagel & Coffee

3. Walk The Stairs Of MET

1 day New York trip for the Gossip Girl fans has to include the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Blair and her girls sat on these iconic stairs, and many of the memorable scenes were filmed here.

Exploring the entire museum will take a whole day, so just walking on the iconic stairs is also a good idea when the time is limited.

It is just a couple of minutes walk from Central Park or a few minute's ride away (depending on which part of Central Park you are at or which Bagel store you went to).

It is highly recommended that you sit here, people-watch for a bit, enjoy your breakfast bagel, and click some photos.

Rockefeller Center, which is just a minute or two away is also a must-visit. If you are visiting during the holidays, this is surely an unmissable spot. The Christmas tree and ice skating on the rink is surely the best.

Finally, by this time it will be noon, so best to go to the Top of the Rock to take in the city views. It is definitely one of the best observatories, and a must-have in your New York City bucket list.

7. Watch Sunset Over Lower Manhattan

Sunset in New York is beautiful and calming, just like everywhere else in the world. With such a hectic and activity-filled day, watching the sunset will bring just enough amount of serenity.

The sun sets later in the summer days whereas in the winter days, it sets a little earlier. So do plan accordingly if you do not want to miss it.

8. Experience Nightlife At Times Square

If you are already tired from the long day, you could end it after sunset and go back to the hotel. However, if you still have some energy left, head to Times Square.

Head to LoL Times Square Comedy Club if you want to experience a comedy show.

Click some iconic (of course touristy) pictures at Times Square. The lights, billboards, and people all make it a wonderful experience.
